Community beautification is the responsibility of each of us. We each have a civic responsibility to keep our communities clean and beautiful. Simple projects range from planting some pretty flowers or shrubs to painting planters, benches, signposts, or creating public artwork. Living in a clean and beautiful community is one of the quickest ways to inspire more community spirit, socializing, and action.
A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your community or neighborhood. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior.
We provide assistance in the form of training and technical assistance, financial support, and capacity development to support these projects. We work to promote community beautification by supporting the development of initiatives designed to tackle issues such as:
Litter is more than just a blight on our landscape. Litter is costly to clean up, impacts our quality of life and economic development, and eventually ends up in our waterways. We are as committed as ever to providing people with the resources to help prevent litter with the ultimate goal of helping to end littering in Utah.
Improve Recycling Systems
By educating and engaging individuals to recycle more of the right things the right way—at home, at work and on-the-go—we can help make recycling more economically viable, creating jobs and providing recyclables to manufacture new products and packaging, while continuing to reap greater environmental and community benefits.
Community Beautification Projects
We work with volunteers on beautification and greening programs that impact more communities throughout the state. Our actions lead to native species plantings, sustainable community gardens including fruit and vegetable gardens, tree plantings, urban forestry, vacant lot transformation, graffiti abatement, fighting blight, and more– all of which results in positive, lasting impact in communities throughout Utah.
